Crayons and a Box

This activity doesn't take much preparation at all.  It would be especially fun with older children or a child who enjoys coloring as an alternative to the same-old coloring book.

Age:

14-15 months (Be careful with younger children, the crayons can be a choking hazard)

Skills:

Fine Motor, Creativity

Materials:

  • Box
  • Crayons

How to:

I put Ephraim in the box and gave him some crayons.
Once he got out he continued to color.
It's pretty simple.

Verdict:

I feel like this activity would be a better success when Ephraim is older.  He tried it for a short time, but his fine motor skills aren't quite strong enough to make a good mark on the box, and he got bored quickly.  However, the box by itself provided much entertainment.  So the activity was not a waste.  Never underestimate the entertaining power of a box.
